Ms. Jewell is a member in the firm's Chattanooga office whose practice focuses primarily on area of medical malpractice, drug and medical device liability, and complex personal injury claims.  Prior to joining the firm, she practiced as a registered nurse providing care to adults, children, and neonates in a variety of clinical settings.

Through her nursing education and diverse clinical background, Ms. Jewell brings a wealth of technical and practical understanding to the cases she defends.  In addition, she frequently analyzes complex medical-legal issues as well as complicated and catastrophic injury claims in matters defended by other firm Members.

Ms. Jewell's practice also includes general litigation, property damage claims, employment law, and insurance coverage matters.  She has also been called upon to serve as trial monitoring counsel.

Representative Client Work

Represented a major pharmaceutical manufacturer in cases of alleged product defect in multi-district litigation (MDL) and upon remand in state court.

Obtained summary judgment in two cases of alleged defective surgical sutures.

Defended the manufacturer of an epidual catheter in a case of alleged product defect.

Represented a clinical laboratory in a case of alleged negligent performance of a paternity test.

Obtained dismissal of a registered nurse in a case of alleged malpractice, abuse and neglect where nurse was sued individually along with her former employer, a long-term care provider.

Defended a retail pharmacy and pharmacist in case of alleged malpractice.

Obtained dismissal of alleged malpractice case filed against an orthopedic physician.

Tried to a successful jury verdict case of alleged malpractice against an emergency room physician and physician's assistant.

Obtained dismissal of claims of general negligence, negligence per se for violation of state and federal nursing home regulations, violation of the Tennessee Adult Protection Act, and violation of the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act for long-term care providers in multiple cases.

Tried to a successful jury verdict a wrongful death case against a long-term care provider.
