Jay opened the firm's Oxford, Mississippi, office in 2009 to better serve the firm's clients on their Mississippi claims.
 
Born and raised in Corinth, Mississippi, Jay is the managing member of the firm's Oxford, Mississippi office.   His practice areas include Construction litigation, Trucking liability, Premises liability, General Civil Liability, Insurance Coverage, and Workers' Compensation defense.

Jay routinely presents seminars to insurance adjusters, industry representatives, in house counsel, and other attorneys on legal issues and discovery and trial tactics within these areas of practice. 

He has an active trial practice, including a recent trial in federal court in Memphis, Tennessee, that resulted in a defense verdict on bad faith and Tennessee Consumer Protection Act claims against a large insurance carrier after three weeks of trial.  He also obtained a directed verdict in Holly Springs, Mississippi, in April, 2010, in a case that involved an alleged assault of two customers by a restaurant employee, which is now on appeal.

In February, 2011, Jay successfully resolved a Mississippi wrongful death action involving a shooting over a property boundary dispute.  In July, 2011, he obtained dismissal of a slander and defamation case filed against a school superintendent and assistant superintendent in Tennessee, which is now on appeal.  Most recently, Jay obtained summary judgment in DeSoto County, Mississippi, for all defendants sued in a wrongful death action involving the death of a U.S. Navy SEAL in a combat training facility.

Jay regularly handles other large exposure claims, including claims relating to alleged defective work relating to commercial construction projects, and wrongful death and other catastrophic injury claims allegedly due to construction defects, products defects, premises liability, professional negligence, and intentional torts.
