Can a purveyor of alcohol who pays a cab to take a drunken patron home be held responsible when the trip goes awry and the patron winds up dead?
A state appellate court used the case of a Gatlinburg restaurant to test that notion for the first time. Late last week, the state Court of Appeals opined that the law governing liability for the actions of inebriated patrons protects the innocent, not the imbiber.
