Leitner, Williams, Dooley, & Napolitan, which was founded in 1882 by the Thomas Brothers, has grown from a modest two-man law firm to a multi-state powerhouse of over 37 attorneys and 48 staff spanning the Southeast and beyond with four statewide offices in Chattanooga, Nashville, Knoxville, and Memphis.
Currently specializing in general civil defense work, LWDN attorneys have also incorporated a city, consolidated counties and successfully represented Fortune 500 corporations, major companies, small businesses and individuals alike.
Members of the firm have been honored with judgeships, including the appointment of H. Ted Milburn to the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals by President Ronald Reagan, R. Vann Owens to Hamilton County Chancellor in 1990, and the appointments of Timothy W. Conner and Pamela B. Johnson by Governor Bill Haslam to the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and the Tennessee Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims, respectively.
Based on his service to the firm for over 50 years, Paul Leitner firmly believes the character, integrity, fairness and strong faith of the current and past partners have enabled the firm to withstand many ups and downs throughout its storied history. Additionally, the firm’s growth can be attributed to its commitment to building successful relationships with successful clients, providing counsel that is highly capable, efficient and cost-effective, with a no-compromise approach to its high standards of personalized service.
The firm’s deep-seated culture of integrity and commitment to excellence extends to its attorneys’ involvement in professional associations, service on local government commissions, and active participation with charitable organizations throughout each office’s respective communities. The firm is recognized nationally as a Best Law Firm by US News & World Report and is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.
The combination of longtime partners’ experience with the continual addition of young attorneys to its statewide offices will ensure LWDN remains a leading firm for many more years to come.
